Abbey Capital TrendPlus Strategy (UCITS) launches with support from Waystone

Abbey Capital, the global alternative investment manager, marks its entry into the UCITS market with the launch of the Abbey Capital TrendPlus.

The fund is established on Waystone’s MontLake UCITS Platform, with Waystone – a leading provider of specialist services to the asset management industry – acting as Management Company (ManCo).

The launch builds on Abbey Capital’s long-standing expertise in creating and managing multi-manager managed futures portfolios which aim to enhance portfolios through market cycles and periods of volatility.

Abbey Capital TrendPlus will combine Commodity Trading Advisors (CTAs) trading across a broad set of global financial and commodity markets. Employing a range of systematic trading approaches across global futures and forwards markets, the strategy aims to deliver a complementary, uncorrelated return profile to equities, bonds and other alternative strategies while maintaining a strong focus on risk management, liquidity and portfolio diversification. Investors will gain access to over 200 global markets, across currencies, fixed income, commodities and equity indices.

Waystone will provide a comprehensive suite of UCITS ManCo services – including governance, compliance and risk oversight with Abbey Capital focusing on portfolio construction and investment management.

Mick Swift, CEO, Abbey Capital commented: “Abbey Capital’s TrendPlus strategy marks an important milestone in our mission to make institutional quality investment strategies accessible to a broader range of global investors. This UCITS product reflects our conviction in managed futures, the importance of long term investing and the potential to deliver uncorrelated returns within a strong risk framework.”

James Allis, Country Head – Ireland, Waystone commented: “Waystone is delighted to support Abbey Capital in bringing its TrendPlus strategy to market. As a leading third-party ManCo in Ireland, we are uniquely positioned to provide regulatory infrastructure and oversight that allows investment managers to stay focused on what they do best: innovating product strategies for their investors and running the portfolio. As investment managers face increasingly complex regulatory and operational environments, there is a growing demand for a trusted partner like Waystone to navigate these market dynamics. Waystone has the in-house capacity and expertise to service this market shift, both in Ireland and globally.”
