Vimbai Gurure is an Independent Director at Waystone and is based in the Cayman Islands. He joined Waystone in 2024, bringing with him over 20 years of financial services experience.
Vimbai has an in-depth understanding of hedge funds operations, having worked across a variety of fund structures and managers globally since 2004. He brings a wealth of experience from hedge fund audit, fund administration, fund fiduciary roles and is well placed with an excellent skillset to add value to his governance appointments.
Vimbai serves as an Independent Director on a wide range of alternative investment funds including hedge funds, fund of funds, segregated portfolio companies, private equity vehicles and related structures.
Before joining Waystone, Vimbai served as an independent director as part of the Maples Group’s fiduciary and fund services teams. Prior to joining the Maples Group, Vimbai worked for MUFG Alternative Fund Services (Cayman) Limited (formerly UBS Fund Services (Cayman) Ltd.) from 2005 to 2017 where he was a Group Head from 2010 to 2016, responsible for providing fund accounting and fund administration to a large and diverse portfolio of Cayman Islands domiciled hedge funds, fund of funds and private equity funds. Previously, Vimbai was employed with Deloitte in the Cayman Islands, working within the audit and assurance team, with a focus on hedge fund audits.
Vimbai is a CFA Charterholder and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of South Africa. In addition, Vimbai is a member of the Cayman Islands Chartered Financial Analyst Society, the Zimbabwe Institute of Chartered Accountants and a member of the Cayman Islands Institute of Professional Accountants. Vimbai also holds the Accredited Director designation from the Chartered Governance Institute of Canada and is FINRA Series 3 qualified (NFA).
