Riyaz Nooruddin, FCA
Executive Director
Riyaz Nooruddin serves as an independent director with Waystone, where he oversees fund governance for private investment funds with a wide variety of structures and strategies. He is also responsible for oversight of Waystone’s Cayman Islands Corporate Services offering.
Riyaz brings experience in the asset management sector gained through positions held in London, the Cayman Islands and the Channel Islands. Prior to joining Waystone, Riyaz held the position of Head of Fund Accounting at BNP Paribas, successfully leading a large team delivering fund services solutions to a suite of international clients. Riyaz previously worked for PwC in the Cayman Islands, auditing a range of hedge funds from start-ups to multi-billion-dollar funds with a variety of strategies, and within the Investment Management department at PwC in London, where his portfolio included some of the world’s largest asset managers.
Riyaz is a Registered Director with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and a member of the Cayman Islands Institute of Professional Accountants. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Leeds.
Skills and experience
- Working on funds with various strategies including long/short equity, asset backed loans, managed futures, event driven, fund of funds, quants, global macro, statistical arbitrage and multi-strategy.
- Serves as Director on entities that act as the General Partner for relevant partnerships.
- Actively involved in the launch process of new funds, reviewing relevant incorporation documents including offering memorandums and liaising with legal counsel and investment managers as appropriate.
- Oversight of the Corporate Service offering inclusive of Company formations, Registered Office service and Liquidations.
- In-depth knowledge and experience in net asset valuation calculations and reporting for hedge funds. Experience in fund structures which include multi series funds and partnerships. Extensive experience in management and incentive fee calculations.
- Experienced in registrar and transfer agency services. Familiar with many different capital and fund structures and working experience in anti-money laundering and compliance procedures.
- Prior experience in the audit of controls reporting and familiar with the controls environment of administrators and managers.
