      Vanessa Gilman is an Independent Director with the Waystone Governance team and is based in the Cayman Islands. A Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst, Vanessa has over 20 years of experience in the funds industry and provides governance services to a wide range of investment vehicles and structures.

      Vanessa has extensive regulatory experience, having served as Senior Analyst with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) in the Investment and Securities Division. In this role she was responsible for the regulation of hedge funds, fund administrators and securities investment business. Vanessa also led and contributed to working groups enhancing industry legislation and regulatory policies, rules, and guidance.

      Starting her career as a Fund Accountant with Goldman Sachs in the Cayman Islands, Vanessa later gained broad fund governance experience before joining Waystone. She managed a funds team at Royal Bank of Canada, Wealth Management providing fiduciary services to leading asset managers in the United States, Europe, and Asia. Vanessa was also employed at Maples FS where she was independent director to various hedge funds and a relationship manager for a portfolio of investment vehicles.
