Self has 20 years of professional accounting experience, with expertise in alternative funds. In his role as Executive Director, Head of Operations Canada, Self oversees the daily operational workflows, spearheads initiatives to optimise fund administration processes, and ensures the delivery of high-quality services to clients, overseeing the accounting and investor services functions, ensuring that reporting standards and financial compliance are maintained at the highest levels.
Before joining Waystone, Self held the position of Executive Director, Head of Operations at Centaur Fund Services’ Canadian office until its acquisition by Waystone in 2023.
Before working at Centaur, he showcased his leadership at Prime Management Limited (a division of SS&C GlobeOp) from 2010-2017, initially as an Account Manager then promoted to Senior Manager for Fund Accounting in 2013. Prior to this, from 2007 to 2010, he supervised fund accounting activities at Citi Hedge Fund Services Ltd. in Bermuda, emphasising his consistent dedication to the sector.
Self is an alumnus of the University of San Carlos, where he holds a BS in Accountancy and Management Accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the Philippines, having trained at Grant Thornton where he worked on a variety of audit clients in various industries, including financial services. He also holds the Financial Risk Manager (FRM) and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designations.
