Ashley Arnardu is an Associate Director within the Cayman Compliance Services team at Waystone and is based in the Cayman Islands. In her role, Ashley serves as Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Officer (AMLCO), and Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO), or Deputy MLRO (DMLRO) for a diverse portfolio of Cayman Islands and BVI regulated investment funds, including Cayman Registered Persons and BVI Approved Managers. Her clients include hedge funds, private equity and credit funds, real estate funds, and fund-of-funds managed by investment advisers primarily based in North America and Europe.
Ashley is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of AML/CFT compliance frameworks in accordance with the Cayman Islands Anti-Money Laundering Regulations and related legislation. She conducts regular reviews of AML programs, risk assessments, and internal controls, and provides advice to boards of directors through formal reporting and ongoing client engagement.
As part of her leadership responsibilities, Ashley manages a team of compliance professionals supporting the AMLCO and MLRO functions across multiple client entities. She contributes to team development and process improvement initiatives, with a focus on delivering high-quality compliance services and maintaining strong client relationships.
Prior to joining Waystone, Ashley was part of the Advisory practice at Deloitte. In that role, she was involved in outsourced AML/CFT/CPF and Sanctions inspections on behalf of the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority, conducted internal audits for regulated financial service providers, and supported public sector clients with change management and governance initiatives.
Earlier in her career, Ashley held roles at EY South Africa, Mazars South Africa, and Deloitte UK, gaining over five years of experience in external audit, SOX controls testing, and financial reporting transformation.
Ashley is a qualified Chartered Accountant and a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS). She also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting Science from the University of the Witwatersrand.
