Alain Bastin

Alain Bastin is Deputy Country Head, Continental Europe, with more than 30 years of senior executive roles across the banking and fund management industries. He has extensive expertise in executive leadership, risk management and audit.

At Waystone, Alain supports the strategic leadership and development of Continental Europe business following the merger of Waystone Fund Management (Lux) S.A. and Waystone Management Company (Lux) S.A. on 1 June 2026. Prior to this, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Waystone Fund Management (Lux) S.A. (formerly BIL Manage Invest S.A.), helping drive the company’s growth and evolution. As one of the founders of BIL Manage Invest, Alain has been instrumental in shaping its long-term success and operational excellence.

Alain joined the BIL Group in 2001 as Head of Market & Operational Risk Management, a position he held until 2013. Before joining BIL, he led the Risk Management and Audit Department at ING from 1993 to 2001. He also plays an active role in Luxembourg’s financial services industry as a member of the GFI Committee of the CSSF and is a founding member of ALRIM, where he served as Chairman from 2000 to 2005 and as a Board Member for more than 20 years. In addition, he serves on the boards of several internal and external alternative investment structures.
